Mater (from Disney's Cars) is a tow truck & one of the twelve remaining cars left in the town of Radiator Springs. Although he is rusty (was baby blue) & missing his hood, he is still able to operate & runs the local towing service. He is good-natured, fun-loving, & a loyal friend. At one part of the movie he says "I knowed I made a good choice!" Lightning asks "In what?", & Mater says "My best friend." Mater is a 1957 Chevrolet Stepside Pickup truck, converted into a tow truck.

Lightning McQueen (from Disney's Cars) is a red race car who has dreamed all his life of winning the Piston Cup Championship. McQueen is a "one man show", and ignores the advice of his pit crew. McQueen has an enormous lead in the final lap of the Piston Cup Championship until his rear tires blow out. He barely finishes the race and ends up in a three-way tie with the cheater Chick Hicks (Michael Keaton) and the veteran champion, "The King" Strip Weathers (Richard Petty).
